The United Brethren Masonic Lodge presented a check for $5,000 last month to the Children’s Dyslexia Centers, which provides tutoring free of charge to Massachusetts children with dyslexia-related learning disabilities. Currently, children in Metrowest have to travel to Newtonville or Worcester for tutoring because there is no center in our area. There is also a capacity issue, so many children have had to be placed on a waiting list. The Marlborough Masons are collaborating with City officials to find a suitable location to establish a local center. The United Brethren Lodge also administer Marlborough’s Teacher of the Year Award and Angel Fund, which assists needy Marlborough school children with purpose-specific donations. The Dyslexia center donation was funded by sponsors of the Mason’s annual Main Street Car show, which takes place in Downtown Marlborough the first Sunday in June. Accepting the donation was H. Richard Cornwell (left in photo), chairman of the board of governors for Children's Dyslexia Center of Central Massachusetts. Presenting the check was Bob Archibald, past master of United Brethren Lodge and chairman of the car show committee.
